| Vizag is calling for help Spandana HudHud cyclone relief fund Supporting the victims of a powerful natural calamity
by displaying the force and compassion of humanity 
We at Spandana Foundation are reaching out to you with a “Call for Help”! On October 12th 2014, a devastating cyclone “Hudhud” hit coaster city of Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam (Vizag) and neighboring districts Srikakulam and Vizayanagaram leaving a trail of destruction not seen in more than four decades, since 1977.
Hudhud packed a knock-out punch to Vizag as it made land fall on Oct 12th with wind speeds of 200 kmph, uprooting most of the electric poles causing total blackout. There is still no power to most of the city even after 6 days now! There is severe scarcity for drinking water. Telecommunications are totally disrupted. Death toll is currently put at 84 with majority of them coming from Vizag and more than 500,000 people evacuated to safety.
The main challenge in front of Govt. is to provide drinking water, food, restore electricity and rebuild the infrastructure. The tragedy is immense and the challenge is enormous. It is times like these every one of us can make a difference. We are not physically present there to volunteer and personally provide help, however we still can make a difference. Spandana is calling on all the members, patrons, sponsors and anyone who can help with a request to generously donate to “Spandana Hudhud Cyclone Relief Fund”. We are hoping to raise $25000 through this effort.
Smart Insight Grant A small help with a kind heart can go a long way
Make a big difference to our motherland from half the globe away While our volunteers, organizers, coordinators are doing their part, it’s “your” donations that make us do what we do at our best. Individuals, families, communities,corporations standing alike joining the hands in hands in this rather difficult situation. Its one such small corporation we would like to mention today. Smart Insight LLC, generously came forward to contribute a match of 100% for the first $10,000 that Spandana rises. That means, Smart Insight would donate $10,000 to Spandana HudHud cyclone relief fund if Spandana is able to raise $10,000 from individual donors. Learn More Dandia and bollywood night Helping HudHud cyclone victims while having fun  Spandana Bay Area team organized laser dandia and bollywood night on Oct-4th. This is our first dandia event in Bay Area and it was a huge success. Though this event wasn't held to help HudHud cyclone victims as it was organized before cyclone, our Spandana Bay Area team unanamously decided to donate all the proceedings ($4,000) of the event to Hudud Cyclone Relief Fund. - 350 members participated in the event

- Net fund raised - $4000
